Learn NiFi’s Origin Story, Discover NiFi’s Future and Compete to Win a $2000 Amazon Gift Card!

Please join us on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023, beginning at 10amPT/1pmET where the original Apache NiFi's co-creators, Joe Witt, Mark Payne, and Matt Gilman, will talk about Cloudera DataFlow and highlight recent major features and evolutions in the community, including NiFi 2.0 and native Python integration.

We will cover:
 - Why NiFi has emerged as the leading solution to distribute data in the enterprise
 - Show how customers deploy thousands of NiFi flows in Public Cloud with powerful security and auto-scaling and even take advantage of execution in ‘function as a service’ engines with server-less NiFi flows.

 - Unveil the new cloud-modernized DataFlow designer, a reimagined visual editor to boost developer productivity and enable self-service.

Plus, after the event, you will be provided exclusive access to a shared DataFlow Service sandbox environment to build and test NIFi flows using the new DataFlow Designer. Any flows you build in the sandbox environment can be submitted to the “Best in Flow” competition, with first place taking home a $2000 Amazon gift card.

And as a special bonus, to the FIRST 100 people that register AND attend this event, you will receive a FREE NiFi T-shirt!! (Valid only in US/Canada)

About the speakers:

Joe Witt, VP of Engineering, Cloudera

Joe Witt is Vice President of Engineering at Cloudera focused on the Cloudera DataFlow product. Joe spent 10 years at the NSA, most of which developing what became Apache NiFi. In 2015, Joe and a team of cofounders left the NSA and started a company called Onyara which was acquired by Hortonworks which later merged with Cloudera. Joe is a member of the project management committee for Apache NiFi.

Mark Payne, Principal Engineer, Cloudera

Mark Payne is a Principal Engineer at Cloudera and leads the Cloudera Flow Management team. Mark began his career at the NSA as a software engineer focused on data integration. Shortly thereafter, he began work on a new project that eventually became known as Apache NiFi. In 2015, Mark left the NSA along with Joe Witt, Matt Gilman, and others to start Onyara. This provided the opportunity to bring Apache NiFi to large enterprise customers. The company was quickly acquired by Hortonworks/Cloudera. Mark is a member of the Apache NiFi project management committee.

Matt Gilman, Principal Engineer, Cloudera

Matt Gilman is a Principal Engineer II at Cloudera focused on the Cloudera Data Flow product. Matt has been supporting Apache NiFi for much of his career. Early on he joined a small team of engineers building what would become Apache NiFi and cofounded Onyara in 2015 with Joe Witt, Mark Payne, and others. He made his way to Cloudera through the Onyara acquisition and Hortonworks merger. Matt is a member of the project management committee for Apache NiFi.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Cloudera?

Cloudera is revolutionizing enterprise data management by offering the first unified Platform for Big Data: The Enterprise Data Hub. Cloudera offers enterprises one place to store, process, and analyze all their data, empowering them to extend the value of existing investments while enabling fundamental new ways to derive value from their data. Founded in 2008, Cloudera was the first, and is currently, the leading provider and supporter of Apache Hadoop for the enterprise. Cloudera also offers software for business critical data challenges including storage, access, management, analysis, security, and search.

What is big data?

Generally speaking, the term “Big Data” refers to any data that for whatever reason (not just volume) cannot be affordably managed by your traditional systems. Big Data is a relative concept and is highly contextual to the environment. For example, even if your organization doesn’t accumulate data on a Facebook-like scale, or even if it primarily collects just one type of data, it may well have Big Data challenges as well as opportunities. Big Data presents a tremendous opportunity for enterprises across industries. By tapping into new volumes and varieties of data, organizations can ask questions about their customers and their business like never before.

What is an enterprise data hub?

An enterprise data hub is one place to store all your data, for as long as desired or required, in its original fidelity; integrated with existing infrastructure and tools; with the flexibility to run a variety of enterprise workloads -- including batch processing, interactive SQL, enterprise search, and advanced analytics -- together with the robust security, governance, data protection, and management that enterprises require. With an enterprise data hub, leading organizations are changing the way they think about data, transforming it from a cost into an asset.
